From the Publisher
Hello!
We’ve been doing many things simultaneously over here at Lucky Rabbit, busy bunnies participating in the Piedmont Publishing Symposium, getting our first nonfiction title Close Encounters with the Great Blue Heron ready to go to print, and drawing up contracts for a divine pair of board books about twins coming out next spring.
On the way home from the symposium, a gathering of regional publishers, in Spartanburg, I was faced with an interesting question. After seeing me sit on a panel in the morning and then go right into problem solving mode on the phone in the afternoon, my travel companion and friend, Tayler Simon, asked me “Annette, how much do you work?” This question pulled me up a bit as it has no definitive answer when you’re building a business. Then I answered honestly, “I like to work.” We delved into the why as we headed down Interstate 26 towards Columbia. It’s partly because I was raised with a strong farming work ethic where people around me were valued by their productivity, but also, I enjoy the intellectual and spiritual independence my work gives me. Never to be discarded, of course, is the fact that to enjoy working you must like the work you do and the people you do it with... and I do.
Best wishes,
Annette
